Campus Maps for Android FAQ
How do I find the latitude and longitude or a location?
The best option is probably to use Google Maps. Center the location (e.g. a building) in Google Maps, click on "link,"
and extract the values after the "ll". See this link for more complete instructions.
How to find the X and Y coordinates of a location?
Save the campus map image to a file. Then open it in an image editing program
like Microsoft Paint (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Paint). Move your
mouse to the same location that you used to collect longitude and latitude data.
You should see the x and y coordinates of the cursor (look in lower left?).
Enter these values in the form.
What if I can only find a PDF map?
You can convert a pdf to a png map and post it at some URL. Or, you can
add your pdf map to Mappery. After
you add the map ("Add to Mappery"), right-click on the image and choose
"Copy image location." Now you can paste the URL for the map in
our form.
What if I don't know this information?
Enter any information you have, even if it is just the name of the campus
that you want added. We will try to add the map for you. However, this will
take longer than if you enter the data for us.
How is Campus Maps different from Google Maps?
Google Maps is great when you have streets and addresses. However,
many campus buildings and pedestrian areas don't show up on Google Maps
except through the satellite view. Campus Maps uses the campus map images
provided by your university or company. These maps are typically packed with
lots of extra detail such as parking lots (student/faculty/visitor), building
names, and athletic fields.
What is your refund policy?
No refunds will be given for not supporting particular campuses. Not all
colleges/organizations provide image-based (jpg, png, gif, bmp) campus maps.
Check to see that your desired campus map is available before purchasing
this app.
